Taking over a multi-agency programme
£1m+ first-year budget approved, a further £2m+ secured
The challenge
The programme was assessing the transition of 15 critical policing systems from central government to the direct control of policing. After the programme leadership left, the policing digital body needed someone to take over a strategic programme spanning five organisations.
What I did
- Took over programme governance and delivery frameworks.
- Brought five organisations to agreement on a joint plan through a workshop of 20 subject matter experts, then owned the integrated programme plan.
- Built a proportionate resource model and secured approval for the first-year budget.
- Led 15 people and a third-party supplier across eight workstreams.
The outcome
- Gained approval for a £1m+ first-year budget, and built the confidence that secured a further £2m+ for the next financial year.
- Kept the programme running through the leadership change and managed a controlled programme closure.
What this shows
Aligning many organisations behind one plan is the same skill distributed AI governance depends on.
